Mrs. Bautista has been teaching for the past 24 years in the Deer Valley Unified School District.  Over the years, she has taught Kindergarten,  First, Second and Fifth grade. She holds an Early Childhood Endorsement and is SEI certified. She earned a bachelors degree from ASU.  Mrs. Bautista is married to her high school sweetheart, Michael and they have 3 beautiful children- 2 boys and a girl- Cash, Parker, and Kennedy.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Shelly Miller and I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I have been teaching for 29 years in Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade. I received my Elementary Education degree from Arizona State University, and a Master's Degree from Northern Arizona University. I also have my Early Childhood Education, Structured English Immersion, and Reading Specialist Endorsements. I continue to take classes and further my knowledge and education. I love to learn and teach new things. Kindergarten is my passion.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Lynn for 30 years. We have three children: Allisa, Breana, and Dawson. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, biking and traveling.

Mrs. Scheffler has been teaching for the Deer Valley Unified School District for the past 29 years.  Her experience has been in grades K-2. She was Deer Valley Teacher of the Year in 2010. She is married to a wonderful man named Dominik and has two beautiful daughters, Sedona and Phoenix.

Kindergarten Sight Word List

 It is expected all Kindergartners know the following sights words by the end of the school year. The list is in order of how they are introduced in class

Ideas for learning sight words:

*Make flash cards for each word.  Practice sight words in short amounts of times frequently.

*Post one word a week on the refrigerator and have child read it every time they walk by.
